There are two basic methods for installing car wraps. The first is the wet method, which uses liquid to facilitate the task and is actually the easiest method. The second method is the dry method, which is more difficult but provides better results and requires experience and practice.

The wet method is considered the beginner's method in the world of wrapping because it is easier, can be learned quickly, and does not require much experience, while the dry method requires experience in wrapping and may result in many mistakes for those who are inexperienced.

What are the methods of installing wrapping on a car?

Below, we will show you the methods of applying wrapping to cars, which are as follows:

The wet method

This method is called wet because it uses a liquid consisting of water and soap that is applied to the bodywork to make it easier to move the wrap after it has been placed on the car, as the liquid prevents the wrap from sticking to the bodywork and makes it easier to align it with the corners and other areas.

You can use a ready-made liquid from auto accessory stores or make one at home by adding a few drops of soap to a bucket of water, then applying it with a sponge to the parts to be wrapped and then applying the wrap.

As we mentioned earlier, this method is the easiest and does not require much experience. It is used by beginners or those who have no experience in wrapping, as it is easier and simpler than the other dry method. People who want to wrap their cars at home tend to use this method because it is also fun.

This method is suitable for car models with straight lines, simple curves, and streamlined sides, but it is not suitable for concave and convex surfaces with sharp angles and many curves.

One of the advantages of this method is that it is easy to remove air bubbles, if any, and the wrap does not wrinkle when applied to the surface, unlike the dry method, where bubbles and wrinkles form due to the wrap adhering to the body quickly.

You must use a special rubber squeegee to press the wrap onto the paint in order to remove any liquid and air bubbles from underneath it so that it adheres directly to the paint. Use the squeegee from left to right, then from top to bottom for best results and a smooth, stable, and beautiful wrap.

The dry method

This method does not use any type of liquid. The wrapping is placed directly on the car body and sticks to it immediately, which means that it will not move smoothly like the wet method and will remain stable during and after installation.

Unlike the first method, this one requires experience and skill in wrapping, because once you place it on the body, it will stick firmly, and you will need to lift it and stretch it several times until it fills the area you want to work on and to get rid of air bubbles as well.

Although this method seems easy, it is more difficult than you might expect because it requires extreme caution. You must handle the wrap carefully while stretching and pulling it and when using the heat gun, because mishandling can damage it, change its color, and cause it to tear.

If you want to remove wrinkles or air bubbles, you must lift the wrap that has stuck to the body, pull it off, and reapply it to the car. If you are not careful, the paintwork itself may be damaged due to the adhesive force, and you will now need to repaint the damaged parts before rewrapping them.

However, the beauty of this method is that once you master it, it will be easier than wet wrapping, and the work will be faster and more efficient. It will become enjoyable for you, and you will change the colors of your car and your friends' cars from time to time for entertainment, especially if your car is a sports car or a luxury car, because the wrap will look great on it.
